As new technologies such as electric vehicles, battery storage, and solar photovoltaic generation develop and mature, the economies of scale of centralized, bulk electric power supply have been declining. As such, utilizing distributed resources in power systems, including demand response, has gained much attention. This talk consists of a few recent works by the presenter toward this effort that still acknowledges the current power system operator’s and load aggregator’s roles. The talk will conclude with relevant open research questions.
