Assessment Techniques Part 1 - Rubrics

Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 12:15pm to 1:45pm

All faculty, staff, graduate students and instructors are invited to part one of a three-part series about specific assessment techniques to use in the classroom to gauge student learning. The first part will be held 12:15-1:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept 20, in  the Havener Center.

The workshop will focus on the creation and use of rubrics. Using rubrics well can clarify to students your expectations about an assignment, communicate to students how well they are doing with specific criteria or learning goals, and, once established, can speed up the grading process. The instructional design and development team (previously named educational technology) will cover the basics of designing, creating and using a rubric well. Participants will leave with a packet of pre-established rubrics for your use on topics such as problem solving, ethical reasoning, presentations skills and discussion participation.
