Biological Sciences Seminar

Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 3:00pm to 4:00pm

Schrenk Hall, 303 105 Schrenk 400 W. 11th Street

V. Alex Sotola of the University of Georgia will give a presentation titled "Genomics of reproductive isolation: using hybridization dynamics to study species barriers"

How do species form? What can hybridization tell us about how species barriers are maintained, or not? The study of speciation revolves around understanding the many mechanisms behind reproductive isolation. Both extrinsic and intrinsic barriers are vital to divergence, and assessing these barriers is key to understand genetic divergence.
