Biological sciences invites you to a talk with Heather Navarro, director of the Midwest Climate Collaborative. Her talk is titled "Collaborating across sectors to address the climate crisis in the Midwest."

If the 12 states that comprise the Midwest were a country, it would be the 5th largest greenhouse gas emitting nation on the planet. Reducing emissions and building resilience in the Midwest region looks different than it does on the coasts and elsewhere in the U.S. For that reason, visionary leaders came together in 2020 and ultimately formed the Midwest Climate Collaborative, a cross-sector network of higher education, local governments, nonprofits, and businesses to work together for a carbon neutral, climate resilient, interconnected region. The MCC accelerates climate action by working across sectors to amplify what's working, connect researchers and practitioners across sectors and communities, develop climate leaders, and increase investment and capacity in our region. While already achieving success with an NSF CIVIC planning grant, the launch of the Midwest Climate Resource Network, and other accomplishments, the MCC is still in its formational stage, eager to hear what resources and connections are needed to advance climate goals and fill gaps for greater collective action.
