The celebration will include a cultural show and an authentic Indian dinner.
The cultural show will be held 4-6 p.m. in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets, and will feature authentic Indian dances, plays and a performance of western and Indian music. A fireworks display will be held at 6:15 p.m. at the University Promenade, the walkway between the Havener Center and Engineering Management buildings on the S&T campus.
The dinner starts from 6:30 p.m. in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center on the S&T campus.
Tickets are $4 for the cultural show and $10 for the dinner and can be purchased 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Oct. 10 in the Havener Center atrium and in front of Curtis Laws Wilson Library.
Diwali, one of India’s most vibrant festivals, is popularly known as the festival of lights and represents the triumph of good over evil. The word Diwali is derived from the Sanskrit word “Deepavali” meaning row of lamps.
