Global Gives Back - Making Sleeping Mats for Homeless from Plastic Bags

Global Learning will host an opportunity for you to join in on a departmental service project.  Take a “brain break” and stop by to learn about making plarn (plastic yarn)  from recycled plastic shopping bags, and turning them into sleeping mats for the homeless.  This is a drop-in event, no fees, and all supplies will be provided.

This year, Global Learning began engaging all its employees in a service project each quarter as part of the department-wide informational meeting.  The Sleeping Mats for the Homeless project not only creates useful mats for homeless, but also makes creative use of plastic shopping bags which cause environmental issues if they are not properly recycled.  Contact Meg Brady (megbrady@mst.edu) for more information about this project.

Monday, July 10 at 3:00pm to 5:00pm

More dates through August 14, 2017
