Join chemical and biochemical engineering for a graduate seminar with Dr. Gregory Tschumper, the Donald L. Castleman/FCR Missouri Endowed Professor of Discovery in the chemistry department at S&T. His presentation is titled, “Chemistry without Chemical: An Introduction to Computational Quantum Chemistry through Applications to Hydrogen and Halogen Bonding.” Dr. Tschumper’s research combines physics, mathematics and high-performance computing to gain insight into chemical problems, instead of performing experiments in a lab. His research group models chemical structures, energetics and other properties of atomic and molecular systems, as well as chemical processes, by using computers to numerically solve quantum mechanical equations.
