Jeff Joggerst, NucE'08, a nuclear engineer at Framatome, will present a talk on Advanced Fuel Management (AFM). AFM is a globally integrated Framatome program designed to deliver fuel with higher enrichment and burnup limits. Using uranium oxide pellets with enrichment levels increased past the traditional five-weight percent threshold and licensing fuel that operates to higher discharge burnups, plants will have more flexibility for efficient core designs and longer operating cycles AFM program encompasses all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle including enrichment services, regular licensing, and fuel fabrication infrastructure.
