The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence will have two seed grant recipients, Dr. Mario Buchely, assistant professor of materials science and engineering, and Dr. Alexander Douglas, assistant teaching professor of mining and explosives engineering, presenting on how they integrated KEEN practices into their classrooms.

Dr. Buchely will be presenting on his work with incorporating a KEEN card into Metallurgical Engineering 3125, to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in undergraduate Metallurgical Engineering students. This allows students to engage in activities and discussions designed to develop critical thinking and innovation within the context of metallurgical engineering.

Dr. Douglas will be presenting on his redesign of Mining Engineering 1912. This redesign includes incorporating Minecraft education edition into a module in the course to introduce concepts of computer-aided mine design and spatial awareness, allowing students to participate in mine design in a fun and engaging way. This redesign has also led to Dr. Douglas preparing two conference papers on this subject.
