Mining: From Missouri to the moon

Virtual Event Monday, February 22, 2021 at 2:00pm to 3:00pm

A look at how Missouri S&T prepared miners over the past 150 years and how it is now preparing engineers for a future in space mining.

This talk will be presented by Larry Gragg, Curator's Distinguished Teaching Professor emeritus of history and political science at S&T, Leslie Gertsch, associate professor of geological engineering at S&T and Alana Krolikowski, assistant professor of history and political science at S&T.

This lecture is part of the Missouri 2021 Bicentennial Alliance lecture series hosted by S&T.  The series, “Honoring our past, envisioning the future,” celebrates the rich cultural history of our region and explores social and economic growth topics relative to Missourians. All lectures in the series will be available for live public viewing. Missouri 2021 is an initiative of The State Historical Society of Missouri and its Center for Missouri Studies.
