#the order of the engineerThe Order of the Engineer is an independent organization whose purpose is to foster a feeling of pride in and dedication to the engineering profession. During the ceremony, each inductee takes a solemn obligation to uphold devotion to the standards and the dignity of the engineering profession. The obligation is a creed similar to the oath attributed to Hippocrates that is commonly taken by medical graduates and which sets forth an ethical code. The obligation likewise contains parts of the canon of ethics of major engineering societies. The Order promotes honesty and integrity, and recognizes that today's engineers are dependent on their predecessors for their skills. A stainless steel ring is worn on the little finger of the working hand to symbolize acceptance of the obligation.
If you wish to be a participant in the Order of the Engineer Ring Ceremony, visit 119 Butler Carlton Hall before Friday, April 28th to sign up and determine your ring size. The cost of the ring is $15 (cash only), which covers the cost of the ring, ceremony, and certificate. The ring must be paid for at the time of sign-up. You must be present at the ceremony in business attire in order to join and receive your ring.
