"Sleep - the most beautiful experience in life - except drink"- W.C. Fields
Every day, we sleep. When we don’t get enough, we have a hard time thinking, we are cranky, and we are slowly damaging out bodies, which can result in health problems like diabetes and cardiovascular problems. Even if you get adequate sleep, those around you may be putting you in danger because they have not gotten enough sleep. Between medical mistakes, industrial disasters, and car accidents, sleep deprivation can impact us all.
This talk will present some of the general background about sleep and the impact of sleep deprivation. In addition, we will talk about how our lab is trying to identify sleepiness in humans, and how sleep deprivation can result in declining health and lifespan.
