The campus community is invited to a sample lecture by Dr. Vlad Ivashyn, a University of Central Florida faculty advisor. He would appreciate your attendance and the opportunity to meet you and discuss his teaching and research.

Abstract:

The presentation introduces the topic of engineering materials and their properties. Tensile and Torsional Strengths, Hardness, Resilience and Toughness will be discussed among the other material properties. Cold Work and Temperature Effects will be introduced. Material Numbering Systems and Material Processing will only be discussed if time allows.

Biography:

Dr. Vlad Ivashyn worked in academia for over 16 years. He joined the University of Central Florida in 2022 as a faculty advisor for the Senior Design capstone program at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Prior to joining UCF, he was working at various universities in the United States and the Republic of Ireland to include Pennsylvania State, Temple, Greenville, Limerick (TUS) and Santa Clara. He received his doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Limerick in Ireland. His master’s and bachelor’s degrees are also in mechanical engineering. He has held various engineering positions, while working in industry for over nine years.
