William Atkins, a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories and an S&T alum, will discuss cyber attacks perpetrated by nation-state actors, which have dominated the headlines for multiple years. In almost all cases, classification has prevented on-the-record confirmation of attribution and details of these attacks. However, US Government agencies have begun publicly releasing unclassified analyses of some of these attacks, including attribution to governments of specific countries. This talk, hosted by S&T's ACM Student Chapter, will examine several such case studies.
