'Say What?!' A Catharsis Production - Faculty & Staff Session
Diversity and inclusivity are not just reached by having a diverse group of students or workforce. Micro-aggressions and bullying are sadly still a large issue at colleges and can have a devastating impact on students' performance and personal life. Students and staff need to feel respected, included, and motivated to contribute. If you can increase positive communication and cross-cultural understanding, you are actively promoting wellness, continuing education and a healthier culture for your institution.
If you think- “Yes, my institution can do better at this” our new program, Say What? can help you reach your diversity and inclusivity goals. Let us be part of your tool box to create a respectful environment, dismantle bias culture, and recognize harmful predispositions and stereotypes in your campus. Catharsis Productions uses humor, interactive talk, and exercises to create an impactful and meaningful learning environment for all participants. Say What?! utilizes research from psychology and adult learning theory mixed with real world discussion and examples of cultural differences happening around us.
The four take aways for this program are:
- Enables participants to see their own biases and privileges
- Explains what micro-aggressions are, why people commit them and how we can prevent them
- Identifies what bias statements are and how to respond to them
- Empowers everyone to be part of the solution in fostering a more respectful and productive environment for campus
