This event will be a tabling event in Havener that has educational components as well as giveaways. We will have flyers and pamphlets about sunscreen use since applying sunscreen and avoiding sun exposure helps prevent or lower your chances of skin cancer. UVB Solar radiation is a known carcinogen and should be avoided when possible. Skin cancer is extremely prevalent in our society and affects all types of people. If people apply sunscreen they often do not wait the recommended time before going outside or getting into water, which doesn’t let the sunscreen reach its maximum efficiency for protecting your skin. College students do not tend to think about sunscreen, especially during winter months, but even 15 minutes of unprotected sun exposure can cause sun damage. We will also be supplying free sunscreen packets and bracelets with UV beads that change color when exposed to UV light - indicating sunscreen is needed.
