Chancellor Mo Dehghani and the India Association at Missouri S&T will sponsor a “Walk for India” event to raise funds to support India in that nation’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, on the S&T campus. The event will begin at the Havener Center, with participants walking a short route through campus to show support for India.

Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to join the walk at any time during those hours. All participants will be required to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing, in accordance with Missouri S&T’s COVID-19 safety protocol.

A minimum contribution of $5 is suggested, but participants may contribute any amount they wish. Donations may be in the form of cash, checks, or credit or debit cards. Participants may bring candles for the walk if they choose.

The walk route will begin at the Havener Center lawn area and will proceed east to the main campus. Participants will turn right at Curtis Laws Wilson Library and proceed south to 11th Street, then turn right to walk west past Schrenk Hall and the Chancellor’s Residence to State Street. From there, participants will turn right and return to the Havener Center.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help with this event should contact Melanie Keeney, director of engagement and outreach at Missouri S&T, at mkeeney@mst.edu by 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 5.
