Repairing existing concrete structures that have been in service for some time can present unique construction challenges compared to new construction. Variations in the as-constructed details compared to those shown in design and construction drawings can make things more difficult especially if the building must remain in service during the repairs.

Describing some of these challenges in his talk titled “Best of times. Worst of times. Evaluation and Repair of Concrete Buildings: The Tale of Two High-Profile Projects,” Dr. Randall Poston will discuss the evaluation and repair of two high-profile concrete buildings — the Courthouse Square mid-rise building complex in Salem, Ore., and the Austonian high-rise residential tower in Austin, Texas. The presentation will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Hall or via Zoom at umsystem.zoom.us/j/92489242927.
